WHY DO WE PROCESS YOUR PERSONAL DATA?

1. To manage your function as a job seeker or volunteer

What does this goal entail?

The Foundation conducts considerable research and development in sectors such as engineering, oceanography, economics, recycling, maritime law, and others.

You may apply for a specific job vacancy or submit an open application, in which case we will collect and retain your data in order to administer the job application process.

Furthermore, the Foundation is always searching for volunteers who are eager to lend a helping hand. If you opt to register, the Foundation will retain and use your personal data in order to administer your volunteer role and communicate with you about your volunteering position.

Which personal data do we process for this purpose?

The Foundation processes data such as your name, address, e-mail address, telephone number, educational background, abilities, availability, skills, and other cv information, as well as correspondence relating to your registration, in order to process your registration as a job applicant or volunteer and contact you about your role. If you want to alter your information or withdraw from the registration process, please contact us using our contact form.

How long do we keep your personal information for this purpose?

If your application is rejected, we will keep information about your job application for no longer than is necessary for processing and, in any case, no longer than two months after your application process has been completed. If you become a volunteer, your data will be kept for no longer than is necessary for processing purposes and, in any case, for no more than two years after your voluntary activity ends. If you become an employee of the Foundation or one of its affiliates, we will process your data in line with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) as well as the applicable Dutch legislation.

2. To provide you information about employment openings and volunteer opportunities.

What does this goal entail?

If you have submitted an open application for a job or registered as a volunteer, we would like to keep your application on file so that we can keep you up to date on our current openings. We may do so through e-newsletters or by approaching you directly.

We process your name, address, e-mail address, educational background, abilities, availability, skills, and other cv information for this purpose, as well as communication connected to your registration and a record of the e-newsletters we have sent you.

How long do we keep your personal information for this purpose?

We keep your personal information for as long as you want to receive information from the Foundation. If you no longer want to receive such information, you may opt out at any time by contacting us via our contact form.

3. To follow up on your inquiries

What does this goal entail?

On the Website, you can send general inquiries to The Foundation via our contact page or by email. If you have questions about the Plastic Journey initiative, please contact The Foundation via our Plastic Journey contact form.

Which personal data do we process for this purpose?

For this reason, we and/or CFF Communications process your name, contact information, interaction with the Foundation regarding your enquiry, and any other personal data you supply us with that is required to follow up on your inquiry.

With the exception of a log file including your name, contact information, the date you contacted us, and the subject of your query, we store your data for as long as is necessary to thoroughly follow up on your inquiry.

4. To follow up on your suggestions and ideas that you have submitted to us.

What does this goal entail?

You can send technology ideas for cleaning the ocean to us via our website’s Technology Input page.

We process your name, contact information, correspondence with the Foundation about your feedback, and any other personal data you offer us that is required to follow up on your input.

Your data will be stored with your input for no longer than is necessary for processing purposes, and in any event for no more than 10 years.

5. Donation data processing

You may help us with the largest cleanup in history by making an online gift. There are two types of donations you can make: a general donation through the Website (to help us continue our research, improve our technology, and accelerate the largest cleanup in history) and a donation to specifically support the Plastic Journey campaign through [Ocean Rescue Inc] to take part in the journey from pollution to products, and ultimately help us remove more plastic.

5.1 To process your general gift (s)

What does this goal entail?

You can submit a general gift form via the Website for your general donation (s). Donations made in Euros via the Website are made to the Foundation and are subject to the Donations Terms and Conditions. Donations made in US dollars via the Website are made to the TOCNPF and are subject to the Donations Terms and Conditions. We will use the personal information you give to process your gift(s), respond to your enquiries about your donation(s), thank you for your support, and fulfil our legal obligations as a foundation regarding your donation (s).

Which personal data do we process for this purpose?

For this purpose, we process your name, address (sharing your address with us is optional unless it is required for processing your donation), e-mail address, payment details, billing address (if this information is required for your region), correspondence with the Foundation or TOCNPF about your inquiries regarding your donation(s), and all other personal data you provide us with and which is re-processed.

How long do we keep your personal information for this purpose?

We save the necessary data for seven years after you cease donating, in accordance with legal requirements.

5.2 For processing your donation(s) made through ocean rescue

What does this goal entail?

You can make a donation to Ocean Rescue by submitting a donation form (s). Donations made in Euros via ocean rescue are made to the Foundation and are subject to the Donations Terms and Conditions. Donations made in US dollars via ocean rescue are made to the TOCNPF, and such donation(s) are subject to the Donations Terms and Conditions. We will use the personal information you provide to process your donation(s), respond to your inquiries about your donation(s), thank you for your support, enable you to take advantage of the benefits that result from your donation(s), and fulfil our legal obligations as a foundation regarding your donation (s).

For this purpose, we process your name, address (sharing your address with us is optional unless it is required for processing your donation), e-mail address or phone number, IP address, payment details, billing address (if this information is required for your region), correspondence with the Foundation or TOCNFP about your donation(s), and any other personal data you provide.

We save the necessary data for seven years after you cease donating, in accordance with legal requirements.

6.To set up a Plastic Journey account

What does this goal entail?

After making a gift at products.Ocean Rescue Inc, you can create a Plastic Journey account to have early access to behind-the-scenes content and to manage and control your donation(s) through products.Ocean Rescue Inc.

Which personal data do we process for this purpose?

We process your name, e-mail address, payment details, billing address (if required for your region), and details of the donation(s) you made on products.Ocean Rescue Inc for this purpose.

How long do we keep your personal information for this purpose?

We keep your personal information for as long as you have a Plastic Journey account. Even if you delete your account, we may still need to keep the data related to the various purposes specified in this Notice. In that scenario, your data will be stored for the time period specified for the applicable purpose.

7. For the advancement and enhancement of our website

What exactly does this goal entail?

We conduct statistical analysis to investigate our users’ visit and click habits. The findings of such research are used to better understand how you engage with our services, to monitor aggregate usage and web traffic routing on our services, and to tailor and improve our services. Cookies are also used for this reason.
